Shangri-La hosts thrilling ethnic horse racing festival

A traditional ethnic horse race was held in Shangri-La, Diqing Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which concluded on Monday.
The 2025 Diqing Shangri-La Horse Racing Festival drew racing teams from Diqing and six other cities and prefectures in Yunnan, including Kunming and Lijiang, as well as riders from provinces and autonomous regions such as Sichuan, Gansu, Xizang, and Inner Mongolia.
The event also featured exhilarating equestrian performances, from picking up hada scarves at full gallop to archery and handstands on horseback.
