China protests ROK lawmakers' visit to Taiwan
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Tuesday that China has lodged a solemn representation with the Republic of Korea regarding the recent visit to Taiwan by three of its lawmakers.
Speaking at a daily news conference in Beijing, Lin noted that since the beginning of this year, the ROK has publicly reaffirmed on multiple occasions that its position on respecting the one-China principle remains unchanged.
"We urge the ROK to act in the broader interests of China-ROK relations, honor its commitments, and faithfully abide by the one-China principle," he said.
He further urged the ROK to refrain from engaging in any form of official exchanges with the Taiwan region, to avoid being taken advantage of by "Taiwan independence" separatists, and to stop sending erroneous signals to "Taiwan independence" forces.
Lin called on ROK to take concrete actions to safeguard the sound and stable development of bilateral relations.
