Abstract: As an important late-development advantage of China, the industrial Internet platform, featuring in sharing, interconnection and intelligence, can help small and medium-sized enterprises reduce the cost of technological application, bring out the production potential, improve the operational efficiency, collaborate with companies both upstream and downstream, and enhance the capability of smart manufacturing. However, users of the industrial Internet have highly personal and customized needs and strong inclination. And the platform requires a huge amount of talents and capital when it expands businesses, which is likely to result in an over-scattered development pattern and leads to repeated competitions at low level and the scenario of being big but not strong. The above problems are not beneficiary to the comparative advantages of China’s large industrial scale and strong demands, not beneficiary to the high-quality development of this industry, and not beneficiary to better playing the role of small and medium-sized enterprises. It is therefore advisable that China should shape the development model of its industrial Internet with few basic platforms but many professional sub-platforms, so as to realize cooperation and complementation between different platforms and promote the high-quality development of the industry.
