A series of setbacks

Tuesday's incident was the latest in a series of setbacks for the aircraft.

On March 18, 2011, a Bolivian Air Force MA-60 carrying 33 passengers and crew performed an emergency landing at an airport in the country after the landing gear in the aircraft's nose cone locked. No one was injured in the incident.

Just 10 months later, on Jan 9, 2012, the same plane developed a fault that resulted in it landing without deploying its undercarriage. The aircraft suffered substantial damage, but there were no casualties

In May 2013 a Myanma Airways flight overshot the runway at Monghsat Airport in Myanmar, resulting in two serious injuries and substantial damage to the aircraft, whose brakes are thought to have failed.

Then on Feb 4, a Joy Air MA-60 37 passengers suffered a mechanical failure in its landing gear as it touched down at Zhengzhou in Henan province. The impact caused the undercarriage to break and the aircraft's nose cone to hit the tarmac.

Flight BK2870, operated by Beijing-headquartered budget carrier Okay Airways, finally landed safely at Shenyang Taoxian International Airport in Liaoning province at around 8:20 pm, more than two and half hours later than scheduled. PROVIDED TO CHINA DAILY
