Chinese shares see sharp drop on Monday

Chinese stocks plummeted on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 2.52 percent, closing at 2,775.56 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index decreased 2.13 percent, dropping to 9,179.80 points.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lowered 1.14 percent on Monday, at 1,588.37 points.
