Editor's note: Thanks to the support of the central and local government, poverty alleviation has made remarkable progress in the past several years in Jingyuan county, Guyuan city, Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region. We have selected some photos taken by our reporters in Jingyuan that show the smiling faces of local people, reflecting improved livelihoods.

Yu Yanli (right), a 22-year-old woman, uses a sewing machine at Yingpeng Clothing Workshop in Jingyuan county, Guyuan city, Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region. Before Yu came to the workshop, she was a stay-at-home mom taking care of children and doing chores. Now she has learned sewing skills and secured a job at the clothing workshop. [Photo/Yu Cheng]
