I have found that this habit of rolling up a T-shirt is often seen in Asia. I suppose on young, fit men it looks ok. It does no harm. However in China it seems mostly older and fat men who do this. It seems that they do this, not to cool themselves but to show off their fat bellies. Typically if one man does this in a group, all the other men in the group copy! Sad.
