Liu Shiyu, former head of China's top securities regulator, was removed from a government post due to violations of disciplines and laws.

After an investigation by the country's top anti-corruption watchdog,
Liu was found to have severely violated political discipline and political
rules, received gifts and used his power and position to seek
personal gain for others, the Central Commission for Discipline
Inspection said in a statement late on Friday.

Liu will be placed on probation within the Chinese communist party for two years, and will keep a position as 1st-class investigator.
