A new charity program will benefit children from China's poverty-stricken regions with the help of new technology. 

The plan was announced on Monday in Beijing's National Library of China by the China Children's Press & Publication Group, Beijing Gao Zhanxiang Culture and Arts Foundation, and Xiaomawang, a Hangzhou-based children's education provider focusing on computer programming. 

A new fund was founded to support free computer programming education in China's countrysides, contributing to the country's fight against poverty by broadening children's horizons.

Since 2016, similar charity programs have been conducted in 18 cities nationwide, according to Wang Jiangyou, CEO of Xiaomawang. Donation of books and establishment of new libraries will follow. The new charity program will also send voluntary teachers to help relevant educational projects. Hao Xianghong, deputy editor-in-chief of Children's Press & Publication Group, expects the new program will narrow the gap of education among developed areas and those lacking hi-tech approaches by combining efforts from social sectors.
