Editor's note: The education department of Zhejiang province in East China has started soliciting public opinions on a draft regulation to help decrease the study load for pupils. According to the regulation, primary and middle school students, with approval from their parents, can leave their homework unfinished after 9 and 10 pm respectively. Excess homework is doing more harm than good to students. My daughter is in middle school and has homework every night and weekend. Every teacher says he only gives 15-30 minutes of homework, but if you multiply it by 7, that's way too much! This amount of homework is detrimental to students' health, growth and sanity.
