Shanghai Disney Resort announced its closure with immediate effect on Monday to aid in epidemiological investigations after a recent visitor tested positive for COVID-19.

The visitor, a 31-year-old woman who lives in Pudong New Area, is reported as a confirmed COVID-19 case on Monday. As of 4 pm, a total of 706 close contacts and 141 secondary contacts have been quarantined and tested, the city's health commission announced, adding test results available as of press time were all negative.

A massive round of testing for 67,715 related people is ongoing. The nucleic acid tests of 48 environmental samples came back negative.

Those who have been to Disneyland and Disneytown between Oct 27 and 30 have also been requested to report to their affiliated organizations, avoid crowd gathering and take COVID-19 tests once a day for three days.

The resort will notify visitors as soon as its reopening date is confirmed.
