On 28 March, H.E. Ambassador Zheng Zeguang made the following statement on the UK's ban of TikTok on?government devices in an interview with Chinese and foreign media?during his visit to Belfast:

We firmly oppose the UK's act?of?making up?excuses to?suppress?a Chinese company. The Chinese government protects data and information security in accordance with the law. The?chief executive?of the relevant company has made it clear that the company?is committed to the protection of?user data?security. Such political manipulation?of the UK side?will only hurt others and?itself, including making a very popular social media platform unavailable to?society, especially the young people. We urge the UK?side?to respect facts, stop overstretching and abusing the idea?of national security, and stop wantonly suppressing Chinese companies.
