The Beijing Haidian District People's Court is innovating its means of promoting law education for children to strongly protect juveniles and help enhance their legal awareness.

Zhou Yuanqing, an official from the court, said on Wednesday that the court is always thinking about how to make students more interested in legal classes and learn law knowledge in an easy way, as the better understanding of laws will contribute to preventing juvenile crimes and strengthening self-protection of children.

Zhou said that the court set up a tribunal to deal with cases involving children in September 1987, and has encouraged a number of judges to offer law classes in schools since the 1990s.

In recent years, the court has taken innovative measures to ensure the education can be easily accepted by young people. For example, the court has organized more interactive activities, such as mock courts and knowledge competitions, to help students deeply feel the justice. The court has also provided video courses and cartoon brochures to stimulate their interest in law learning.

In addition, the court has also attached greater importance to helping promote family education, calling for more walks of life, including women's federation and social service institutions, to jointly advance the law education.

Zhou said that to effectively implement laws concerning juveniles, including the Minor Protection Law and the Family Education Promotion Law, the court will focus more on cultivating children's thinking of rule of law, making greater efforts to promote law-based governance and ensure campus safety.
