An academic conference was held on Saturday to commemorate the 109th anniversary of Tsinghua University High School, with representatives from the education sector gathering to discuss how to enhance the country's fundamental education.
Xu Qinghong, the deputy Party secretary of Tsinghua University, emphasized that deepening comprehensive educational reforms and promoting a comprehensive enhancement of governance capabilities in fundamental education are crucial challenges that Tsinghua University High School must confront for its long-term development.

Fang Yan, the president of Tsinghua University High School, stated in her keynote address that the school's educational philosophy and principles of nurturing students have always maintained a distinct legacy and relevance to the times.
She highlighted the necessity of governance reforms within the school, focusing on areas such as the teaching staff, classroom curriculum, educational models, governance structures, institutional systems, cultural product supplies and technological empowerment.
Chen Wenyuan, an official from the education commission of Beijing's Haidian district where the high school is situated, praised the school's innovative efforts in uniting the forces of schools, families and society to collectively nurture the next generation.
Parents of students also participated in roundtable discussions, collaborating with school representatives to explore how the school's parent committee system integrates resources and promotes the holistic development of students.
They believe that the success of the parent committee system relies on strong support from the school and precise positioning of the parental role. Only through mutual trust between schools and parents, as well as by effectively mobilizing more social resources, can the school's parent committee system operate healthily and actively.
Another roundtable session invited young faculty members to share their experiences and insights on teachers' professional development from such perspectives as international education and the establishment of teaching research groups.
