The essence of China-US economic and trade relations is mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, said Lou Qinjian, spokesman for the third session of the 14th National People's Congress, at a news conference in Beijing on Tuesday.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 46 years ago, bilateral trade between the China and the US has grown by more than 200 times, with two-way investment stock reaching about $250 billion, he said.

Lou emphasized that the robust economic ties have not only brought tangible benefits to the people of both countries but also significantly contributed to global economic development.

He criticized the US for its unilateral imposition of tariffs, which violates World Trade Organization rules and disrupts the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains.

The spokesman called on the US to work with China in the same direction, resolving differences through equal consultations.
