Chinese people have shown higher acceptance of making a will in recent years, and the average age of people making their wills saw a decadelong drop, said a recent report.

The China Will Registration Center published a white paper in Beijing on Friday, which shows that the average age of people making wills has continuously fallen in the past 12 years from 77.43 to 67.71 in 2024. The center is a public charitable program initiated by the China Ageing Development Foundation in 2013.

By Dec 31, the center has offered consultancy services on making a will to a total of 572,141 people since its establishment in 2013. More than 357,000 wills have been registered and kept by the center with 12,261 taking effect over the period.

According to the white paper, Chinese people who made wills in 2024 were mainly those aged between 60 and 70, taking up 52.9 percent of people made wills at that year.
