Chinese people have come up with numerous strategies for combating desertification that not only controls sand but also creates wealth.

The Horqin and Hunshandak sandy lands in northeastern China were once major sources of dust storms that impacted the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Today, these sandy areas are being transformed through innovative anti-desertification efforts — evolving from individual pine seedlings to extensive forests along their sandy borders. These initiatives have not only stopped sandstorm erosion but have also created new economic opportunities for local residents. In the past two years, regions including Liaoning province and Inner Mongolia have implemented various locally-tailored technological solutions to combat mobile sandy lands. Even the Three Gorges Group has joined this environmental battle! Click the video to discover the ingenious offensive and defensive strategies China is using to fight desertification.
