China's role in advancing gender equality through education highlighted

Gender equality leaders have emphasized the role of quality education in empowering women and girls globally where China is playing a key role.
Alexander Munive, director of the Global Center for Gender Equality, praised China's progress in reducing illiteracy. Simone Yankey-Ouattara, coordinator of the African Union's International Center for Girls and Women's Education in Africa, highlighted China's technical and financial support in gender equality. They talked to China Daily at the 2025 International Symposium on Girls' and Women's Education, which was held recently in Beijing.
