Authorities in Hunan province are ramping up efforts to attract talent nationwide by organizing a series of job fairs in major cities, offering more than 300,000 positions for university graduates.

A special recruitment fair was held on Sunday at Peking University, where nearly 500 employers from Hunan presented about 15,000 job opportunities. More than 10,000 students from universities in Beijing attended the event, according to the provincial publicity department.

At the fair, Hunan Governor Mao Weiming extended an open invitation to young people across the country.

"If you come to Hunan, you will find a stage to shine; if you are a seed, you will take root, break through the soil and grow strong," he said.

The Beijing event marked the third stop in Hunan's seven-city recruitment campaign, following events held in the provincial capital Changsha and Shanghai in late September. By the end of the month, the province plans to host additional job fairs in the capitals of Shaanxi, Hubei, Sichuan and Jiangsu provinces, the publicity department said.

The campaign will offer more than 300,000 positions at State-owned enterprises, universities, hospitals and technology firms, matching job seekers' skills with Hunan's industrial strengths.

High-tech industries were prominently represented at the Beijing fair, with over 120 Hunan-based technology firms offering more than 3,200 positions in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, algorithms and new materials.

Jiang Zhengwen, a recruiter from the National Supercomputing Center in Changsha, said the center is seeking young professionals in artificial intelligence, big data and computing algorithms.

He told People's Daily that his company received a large number of resumes at the Beijing fair.

"Quite a few students from Hunan who studied computer science or information technology in Beijing hope to return home to contribute to scientific research and digital governance," he said.

For many graduates, including those from outside Hunan, the province's growing economy and livable environment are major draws.

Wang Jiayi, a Capital Normal University student from Henan province who will graduate next year, said she has applied for a teaching position at a public high school in Changsha.

"I want to settle down there," she said. "Changsha has a balanced pace of life, a lively atmosphere and housing that's still affordable for young people starting their careers."
