Beijing and Kiev agreed to promote ties as Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin met with Ukrainian Ambassador to China Oleksandr Nechytailo on Friday.

China and Ukraine are strategic partners, Liu said, adding that China hopes to work with Ukraine to consolidate and develop ties and advance cooperation in various fields, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry.

Nechytailo said he attaches importance to Ukraine's relations with China, and hopes to promote the relations' development on the basis of traditional friendliness.

Both sides exchanged views on issues, including the Ukraine crisis.
