Chengdu mayor investigated over suspected serious violations
Wang Fengchao, mayor of Sichuan province's capital city Chengdu, is under discipline inspection and supervision investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission over suspected serious violations of Party discipline and national laws, the CCDI and NSC announced on Wednesday.
Born in December 1965 in Zhongjiang, Sichuan, Wang joined the Communist Party of China in January 1986 and began working in July 1986.
His previous positions include vice-chairman of Sichuan Changhong Electronic Group, vice-mayor of Sichuan's Neijiang, deputy director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Sichuan Provincial People's Government, chairman of Sichuan Airlines Group, and chairman of Sichuan Development Holding Company.
Wang had been serving as mayor of Chengdu since September 2020.
