Senior Chinese official stresses improving system for narcotics control
BEIJING -- A senior Chinese official on Wednesday urged strengthening the narcotics control system, vowing to win the fight against drugs.
Wang Xiaohong, a state councilor and head of the national anti-drug committee, made the remarks at a national video conference on narcotics control.
He called for tightening drug detection and seizure efforts, stepping up investigations and the cracking of major cases, and enhancing cross-regional and cross-border collaboration.
He urged stricter control over addictive substances as well as materials used in drug manufacturing, and called for rigorous enforcement of international verification and export-control measures.
The official also emphasized the need to carry out comprehensive public education, conduct strict and standardized law enforcement, and strengthen international anti-drug cooperation.
