Final death toll of Tai Po fire confirmed at 168: HKSAR govt
HONG KONG -- The final death toll of the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po of Hong Kong has been confirmed at 168, Chris Tang Ping-keung, secretary for security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, said on Thursday.
Tang said that all bodies and remains from the fire have been identified and all missing persons have been accounted for, confirming that the death toll is final and will not be updated further.
The fatalities include one firefighter, two renovation workers, five construction workers and ten foreign laborers, Tang said, adding that to respect the wishes of the families of the deceased, the list of victims will not be made public at this stage, he said.
The deadly fire broke out on Nov 26, 2025, engulfing seven buildings in the Wang Fuk Court residential complex in Hong Kong's Tai Po district.
