The Volkswagen Group is ramping up its NEV offensive in China, saying it plans to introduce a new model roughly every two weeks starting in 2026.

The German carmaker will showcase 10 models spanning four brands, including four global debuts, at a media event scheduled ahead of the Beijing auto show in late April.

The push underscores the urgency facing foreign automakers in China, where domestic brands have surged ahead in electric vehicles and software-defined cars.

"Our 'In China, for China' strategy is coming into its own," said Ralf Brandstaetter, the company's China chief. "This is the Volkswagen Group's largest-ever electric mobility offensive."

In 2026 alone, the group plans to launch more than 20 electrified vehicles — including battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, and range-extender models — alongside updates to internal-combustion offerings, as it seeks to better align with local demand.

Among the highlights at the showcase later this month are four world premieres designed to expand Volkswagen's reach across price tiers and customer segments.

The core Volkswagen brand will introduce a new addition to its ID. UNYX lineup, developed with Chinese partner XPeng, as well as the first all-electric model in FAW-Volkswagen's ID. AURA series built on a locally developed electronic architecture.

The JETTA marque will unveil its first electric concept, aimed at the entry-level segment, signaling a broader push to make smart EVs more accessible.

Meanwhile, Audi's China-exclusive model lineup will present the exterior design of the E7X, its second production model targeting new customer groups, as part of a dual-brand strategy that also includes traditional Audi models.

Volkswagen is also emphasizing software and automation as competitive differentiators at its group media event.

Its China-based driver-assistance joint venture CARIZON is rolling out Level 2 advanced driver-assistance systems capable of navigation on autopilot in both urban and highway settings, as well as automated parking.

The company said it is also advancing in-house chip development to support higher levels of autonomy.
