Memorial ceremony pays respects to martyrs Wu Shi and He Sui in Fuzhou
The TV drama Silent Glory, which aired last year, featuring Wu's sacrifice in Taiwan, deeply moved the public and drew wide attention to the two heroes.
Wu Hong, granddaughter of Wu Shi, and He Daining, eldest grandson of He Sui, prepared local Fuzhou delicacies, including litchi-flavoured pork, handmade fish balls, Rouyan, or meat dumpling, taro paste, Qingming glutinous rice cakes, and aged Fujian rice wine during the event on Tuesday.
"These are the hometown dishes my grandfather always missed. He never got to eat them after leaving Fuzhou, and I want him to know his hometown hasn't forgotten him," Wu said.
During the ceremony, they lit incense, offered wine, wrote memorial messages, folded osmanthus branches, and cleaned the statues. Representatives from local art institutions also attended and presented flower baskets.
