China urges orderly road testing of intelligent connected vehicles
BEIJING -- Three Chinese government departments on Tuesday called for regulated and orderly road testing and demonstration application of intelligent connected vehicles.
The relevant functional divisions of three ministries, namely the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Transport, held a meeting on Tuesday to deploy a nationwide self-inspection and rectification campaign, stressing stronger safety supervision throughout the testing process.
Local authorities were urged to conduct comprehensive self-assessments in light of recent safety events, strengthen safety oversight across the entire process, and enhance emergency response capabilities to ensure safe and orderly testing and demonstration activities.
The meeting also revealed that relevant authorities will continue to improve autonomous driving management systems to promote high-quality development of the intelligent connected vehicle industry.
