Handan hosts inaugural Hebei tai chi open with 1,000 competitors
From Thursday to Sunday, the inaugural Hebei Province Tai Chi Open in Handan brought together nearly 1,000 martial artists from across China to compete in forms, routines, and push-hand events.
According to organizers, the competition featured individual and group routines as well as weight- and gender-graded push-hand contests. Styles including Chen, Yang, Wu, and Sun were represented, with age categories spanning from teenagers to senior practitioners.
Masters also led lectures and workshops, while participants enjoyed free visits to local attractions, such as Guangfu Ancient City, blending sport with cultural tourism.
The event aimed to promote traditional martial arts and boost Handan's reputation as the "hometown of tai chi", local authorities said.
