Boosted by intelligent and targeted experience-driven growth, Chinese electric two-wheeled vehicle maker Ninebot's cumulative shipments of smart electric two-wheelers in the Chinese market have exceeded 11 million units, its founder and chairman Gao Lufeng said at a product launch event on Wednesday.

"Smart electric two-wheelers are shifting from a parameter-driven phase to a new era defined by user experience," Gao said.

Targeting differentiated consumer segments ranging from students and office workers to family users, the company unveiled five new electric two-wheeler models this year, priced between 3,000 yuan ($415) and 5,000 yuan. With a maximum range of up to 70 kilometers, the new lineup includes upgraded models from the Q series, a family-oriented QL version and a co-branded edition with Pop Mart, focusing on intelligent features, safety and design.

The latest upgrades align with China's new national standards for electric mopeds, widely regarded as the most stringent to date. Effective Dec 1, 2025, the updated rules impose stricter requirements on fire resistance, tamper prevention and positioning.

Against this backdrop, the industry is undergoing a period of adjustment. Data from AVC Revo showed that domestic sales of electric two-wheelers stood at 12.1 million units in the first quarter of 2026, down 17.1 percent year-on-year. The decline was largely attributed to a high base last year driven by trade-in subsidies, as well as rising prices linked to compliance costs, which have led some consumers to delay purchases.

Despite these short-term pressures, Ninebot reported strong growth momentum. According to its annual report, the company posted total revenue of 21.278 billion yuan in 2025, up 49.9 percent year-on-year. Electric two-wheelers remained its core business, with sales reaching 4.1 million units and revenue of 11.86 billion yuan, a 64.5 percent increase.
