China reaffirms stance on Korean Peninsula issue, urges political settlement
China on Monday reaffirmed its consistent and stable position on the Korean Peninsula issue, stressing that it has been playing a constructive role in promoting a political settlement in its own way.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular news conference when asked about a fact sheet released by the White House on Sunday, which stated that the United States and China had confirmed their shared goal of achieving the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
The spokesman emphasized that China remains committed to encouraging all relevant parties to face up to the crux and root cause of the Peninsula issue, adhering to the general direction of a political settlement, and making constructive efforts to ease tensions and safeguard regional peace and stability.
