At the ongoing exhibition Discoveries at Li Jingxun's Tomb at the National Museum of China, hanfu enthusiasts have seized the opportunity to cosplay women's attire from the Sui Dynasty (581-618), the era in which Li Jingxun — an aristocratic girl who died prematurely at 9 — lived.
Hanfu cosplayers have been sharing photos of themselves gazing at the glittering gold accessories on show, some worn by Li herself and some buried with her, exemplifying both her privileged status and the love of her maternal grandmother Yang Lihua, an influential member of the royal family. They also imagine how they would look if they were wearing the extravagant objects themselves.
