Wang Yi to visit Canada from May 28 to 30
Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Canada from May 28 to 30. This will be the first visit by a Chinese foreign minister to Canada in 10 years.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said China-Canada relations have achieved a turnaround and maintained a sound momentum of development, with the two sides working to build a new type of strategic partnership.
The visit is of great significance for consolidating the positive momentum in bilateral relations, he added.
During the visit, Guo said Wang will have an in-depth exchange of views with the Canadian side on implementing the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and the outcomes of Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to China in January, and international and regional issues of mutual concern.
China looks forward to working with Canada through the visit to enhance political mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, properly manage differences, and advance bilateral relations along a healthy, stable and sustainable track, so as to better benefit the two peoples, Guo said.
