Over 200 deals set to be signed as investment fair opens in Chongqing
More than 200 projects are set to be signed during the ongoing Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT), held from Thursday to Sunday in Chongqing.
According to the organizing committee, 124 were finalized at the opening ceremony on Thursday, with an additional 88 to be signed by the city's districts and counties later.
The opening ceremony also saw the unveiling of the Caihong YH-1000S, the world's first hybrid-powered unmanned transport aircraft. Developed by the 11th academy of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the aircraft completed its maiden flight earlier this year.
This year's fair aims to bolster cooperation and open up new opportunities in western China. It has attracted nearly 1,400 companies from 50 countries and regions.
The United Kingdom is the designated guest country, Sichuan the guest province, and Gyeonggi-do of the Republic of Korea the guest city.
Later on Thursday, the United Kingdom National Pavilion was inaugurated at the Chongqing International Expo Center. The China-Korea Economic Friendly Cooperation Center was also unveiled.
Throughout the event, nearly 40 activities, including themed events, investment and trade matchmaking, and consumer promotion, will take place.
