Huawei launches upgraded Aito M9 SUV
Huawei Technologies Co's automotive ambitions took another leap forward on Wednesday with the launch of the all-new Aito M9, as the Chinese company declared the luxury SUV "ready for Level 3 autonomous driving".
The upgraded Aito M9 comes equipped with 140 all-new technologies and over 40 industry-first features, according to Huawei Executive Director and Terminal BG Chairman Yu Chengdong, while speaking at the launch event in Shenzhen, Guangdong province.
To date, the M9's cumulative deliveries have reached 285,000 units, Yu said.
Yu highlighted that the M9's technology architecture is designed for Level 3 autonomous driving and equipped with 40 onboard intelligent driving sensors.
While L3 autonomous driving technology has not yet been formally approved for public roads, the M9's hardware ready for L3 functionality could be unlocked via over-the-air updates once regulations permit, Huawei said.
Yu also disclosed that cumulative deliveries of its smart car ecosystem Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance fleet have surpassed 1.39 million units, with 190,000 units delivered so far in 2026 — a year-on-year increase of 27 percent.
Within the ecosystem, Huawei has partnered with carmakers to unveil models under the Aito, Luxeed, Stelato, Maextro and Shangjie brands.
