SAIC Motor said on Thursday it has become the first Chinese automaker to reach 100 million cumulative vehicle production and sales, marking a milestone in the country's largest auto group's global development.

The milestone was marked at a delivery ceremony in Shanghai, where the carmaker conducted simultaneous deliveries across its brand portfolio, including Roewe, MG, Maxus, SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC Audi and SAIC-GM, as well as commercial vehicles ranging from logistics vans to buses and trucks.

Deliveries were also made in overseas markets including the UK, Indonesia and Singapore.

SAIC, with its origins dating back to 1955, said the 100 millionth vehicle was the IM LS9 Hyper, a flagship electric model from its premium EV brand IM Motors.

It features a steer-by-wire chassis with four-wheel steering, a 520-line lidar system paired with Nvidia's Thor chip, and an 800-volt high-voltage architecture combined with extended-range capability.

The vehicle also debuts a triple-motor performance system and an "inherent safety" architecture developed with China's Purple Mountain Laboratory, focusing on both physical and cyber security.

SAIC said the model is designed with redundancy for Level 3 and above autonomous driving functions.

The milestone user was Momenta CEO Cao Xudong, underscoring SAIC's close partnership with the autonomous driving technology firm.

SAIC said the achievement reflects the scale of its integrated industrial system spanning vehicles, components, mobility services, finance and overseas operations.

The company sold 1.30 million vehicles in the January–April period, maintaining its position as China's top-selling automaker for four consecutive months, while overseas sales rose 50.2 percent year-on-year to 459,000 units.

Its MG brand remains the best-selling Chinese automotive brand in Europe for 11 consecutive years, with European sales exceeding 300,000 units in 2025.

In March, MG held a technology event in Frankfurt showcasing semi-solid-state battery and hybrid technologies as it expands its electrified lineup in overseas markets.

SAIC has positioned its overseas strategy under a "Glocal" approach, combining global standards with localized development.

Its global footprint is supported by more than 100 overseas parts and manufacturing bases, over 3,000 dealer outlets and four overseas production hubs.

Its logistics arm operates 42 roll-on/roll-off vessels serving major international routes.
