China's Shennongjia, Wuyi named World Tourism Mountains

Two Chinese mountains were officially recognized as "World Tourism Mountains" on Friday during celebrations to mark International Mountain Tourism Day. The recognition is part of global efforts to balance ecological conservation with sustainable tourism development.
The designations were announced at the opening ceremony of the annual event, held in Shennongjia, Hubei province, under the theme "Protecting World Heritage, Sharing the Benefits of Famous Mountains".
At the ceremony, Liu Zhaohui, vice-chairman of the International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA), presented World Tourism Mountain certificates to representatives from Shennongjia and Wuyi Mountain in Fujian province.
