Hundreds of EVs depart Guiyang on first JSQ train to Kazakhstan
Guizhou's first JSQ car-carrying freight train connecting China to Central Asia departed for Kazakhstan on Wednesday morning with 261 new-energy vehicles onboard.?
At Gaimao Railway Station in Guiyang, the province's largest rail cargo distribution hub, the cars were driven one by one up a ramp and directly into the railcars, thanks to the specially designed JSQ wagons. The shipment is expected to arrive in Kazakhstan in about 15 days.
Built specifically for vehicle transport, JSQ railcars have two decks that allow cars to roll on and off directly, which speeds up loading and unloading.
"Traditional container shipping requires forklift loading, then temporary reinforcement and securing," said Qin Xiaobin of the Guiyang Railway Logistics Center. "JSQ railcars already have built-in securing devices. A container can carry only two to four cars, while one JSQ railcar can carry about 10."
For automakers and exporters in Guiyang, including Geely Auto, the new service helps ease long-standing logistics bottlenecks. Vehicle shipments have often relied on road feeder transport or container shipping, both of which offer limited capacity and carry greater risks of damage during handling or bad weather.
"JSQ service has improved our shipping efficiency, shortening the overall delivery cycle by five to seven days," said Shang Yuewen of Zhejiang Jisu Logistics. "It also offers a high level of transport safety and reduces cargo damage risk."
