"From the reform and opening-up period, large numbers of overseas Chinese returned to invest and start businesses, supporting the country's initial development and demonstrating their national responsibility," said Zhou Yitian, a new-generation overseas Chinese.
"While the older generation maintained their connection to the motherland through qiaopi, our generation serves the motherland through practical work."
"This phenomenon helps activate Shanghai's rich overseas Chinese cultural resources, injecting new momentum for the new era and new journey ahead," said Qi Quansheng, Communist Party secretary and chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.
