AMD showcases innovations at annual forum

The company plans to launch a new notebook platform codenamed "puma", which excels in high-definition display, video play, power-efficiency, security and connection, he revealed.

Krishna Anne, senior director of strategy of accelerated computing, addressed the innovations on AMD accelerated computing.

"In the future, AMD envisions APUs that include a varying mix of CPU cores (Scalar Processors – X86), Vector cores (like GPU Cores) and fixed function accelerator cores on-chip,"，he told the forum.

By combining the optimum mix of CPU cores with different types of on-chip and off-chip accelerators, platforms can be better tailored to accelerate the types of software a particular end-user segment cares most about, he added.

AMD is pro-actively working with the software community to develop and introduce new software programming tools for AC environments, according to him.
