The ChiNext stock market closed down Monday as only four of the 50 shares at China's start-up board for small and medium-sized enterprises rose.

The board, which is based in Shenzhen and started trading October 30, 2009, is tailored to the needs of enterprises engaged in innovation and other enterprises with great growth potential.
