China XD Group Corporation, one of China's top manufacturing companies of high voltage and ultra-high voltage transmission and distribution equipment, recently successfully developed country's first high performance 220kV 70MVA series transformer.

The transformer is the key equipment designed and developed for a power engineering project of unified power flow controller (UPFC) in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province. UPFC can solve the problems of unequal distribution of power flow and irratic running which the current power grids suffers.

Based on the success of designing and developing 220 kV conventional transformer, XD technicians carried out research and technological innovation and overcame the key difficulties in the transformer's design, manufacturing and transportation to ensure the reliability the advanced technology of the product.

It passed the routine test and type test in September.

The successful development of the product laid the foundation for the follow-up research, development and manufacturing of higher voltage series transformer and greatly enhanced the competitiveness of China XD in the market.
