HOHHOT — Trade between North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region and countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road?Initiative?saw huge increase in the first three quarters, official data showed.

According to the Manzhouli Customs, trade volume in Inner Mongolia from January to September totalled 46.39 billion yuan ($6.98 billion), up 35.2 percent year-on-year, with both imports and exports surging substantially.

Mongolia and Russia are the major trade partners, accounting for a combined 77 percent of the region's total trade volume.

Border small-volume trade and general trade were the two important methods, where private enterprises played an active role.

Of 3,000 types of merchandise, mechanical and electrical exports, and coal imports saw huge increases, due to trade stimulus policies and rising prices of some commodities.
