Private cars will no longer have to be retired after 15 years of use, according to the new mandatory standards that took effect on May 1. Instead, the upper limit for a private car is set at 600,000 kilometers, which would mean some 30 years for an ordinary family car that travels about 20,000 km a year. The new regulation also stipulates that after their 15th year of use, cars should be checked twice a year.
