Infiniti is bringing out the proverbial big guns to prove that it can be a contender in the nation's German-dominated luxury car market.
It brought its full lineup to this year's ongoing Guangzhou Auto Show as a prelude to the brand's planned expansion on the mainland in the coming years in terms of both dealerships and local production.
The biggest highlight is the global debut of that Infiniti Q50 2.0T, a premium sports sedan that has been tailor-made for the Chinese market.
It is the first model of the brand to be equipped with a turbocharged engine, which enables a strong power performance and outstanding fuel efficiency.
With the new power configuration, the Q50 is expected to become one of the most competitive products in its segment after its planned launch in China next year.
A hybrid Q50 will also be available then. It features a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine and a 50 kW electric motor. Producing maximum power of 261 kW and top torque of 536 Nm, the combination can help the Q50 accelerate from zero to 60 miles in just 4.9 seconds.
