Justin Timberlake is launching a new brand of tequila named 901.

In development for more than two years, the liquor will be available in shops in early May in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and St. Louis.

A spokesperson for Timberlake explained that the drink was so named because "901 is that time of night when your evening is ending, but your night is just beginning".

They added that it was "also a subtle nod to his hometown" as 901 is the area code for Memphis, Timberlake's hometown.

The new venture is the latest spin-off for the singer who also has the William Rast fashion line and the Tennman music label.
