Accident traps over 30 miners in NE China

HARBIN -- At least 30 miners were feared to have been trapped in a coal mine accident in Hegang City, Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province early Saturday morning, according to a government source.

There were no immediate words on the cause of the accident.

The accident happened at around 4 am when 44 miners were working underground, said the government source.

About a dozen miners managed to escape and told rescuers that more than 30 miners might be trapped in the mine.
