Chinese enterprises in Algeria vow to contribute to ties

ALGIERS: Chinese Ambassador to Algeria Liu Yuhe hailed Chinese enterprises' performance in Algeria, saying the current situation of China-Algeria economic and trade relationship is on a good momentum.

Liu made the remarks at a seminar of Chinese enterprises held in Algeria on Thursday, he mobilized the Chinese entrepreneurs to take part in an August program of building overseas Chinese citizens' image.

Representatives of Chinese enterprises for the seminar pledged to promote their business in Algeria to make contribution to relations between the two friendly countries.

The conferees said the Chinese enterprises will earnestly carry out the projects in Algeria and actively explore the Algerian market to contribute to China-Algeria traditional relationship of friendship and cooperation.

"Our enterprises will fulfill our social responsibility, earnestly carry out the projects related to the Algerian people's livelihood, such as housing projects, employ more local staff and advance professional and technological training," said Chen Wenjian, general manager of China State Construction Engineering Corporation in Algeria.

He also said that for the second half of this year, the company will step up security work over projects and its staff.

"Our company will attach greater importance to repaying the society and building harmonious and friendly ties with local residents," said Zhuo Lei, general manager of a joint highway project undertaken by China CITIC Group and China Railway Construction Corporation Limited.

Meanwhile, the Chinese entrepreneurs also reviewed their companies' business performance in the first half of the year and discussed ways to respond to the influence of the global financial crisis and the changes of Algerian market and policies.

China-Algeria bilateral trade volume has increased from $190 million in 2000 to $4.55 billion in 2008.
