A motion to the ongoing National People's Congress suggested that an information security law should be developed as soon as possible.

Xu Long, deputy to the NPC and general manager of China Mobile Guangdong branch, said that by the end of 2011, the total number of Chinese netizens was 505 million and Internet penetration rate reached 38.3 percent.

He said information network security is now a major concern and he keenly wants an information law to promote the healthy development of modern information services and to protect the legitimate rights and interests of individuals.
