World-famous Chicago Symphony Orchestra heads to Beijing, Tianjin

When the world-renowned Chicago Symphony Orchestra toured China for the first time in 2009, a group of Shanghai Conservatory students was invited to sit in on a short rehearsal.

What was meant to be a 30-minute run-through became an impromptu special hour-and-a-half performance for the young students, providing many of them with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to hear the orchestra in action at close quarters.
