Local authorities in Ningbo have unveiled a new blueprint for the second-largest city in Zhejiang province, vowing to turn it into a national eco-city by 2016.

"A beautiful Ningbo is a demand by both, its development and local residents," said the city's top political leader Liu Qi.

Passed at a government plenary meeting in late May, the master plan details goals in overall economic development, ecological progress, people's living environment and public awareness.
