China's national flag in outer space ( 2003-10-15 21:34) (Xinhua) A five-star national flag of China 's was displayed in outer space by Lt. Col. Yang Liwei who was orbiting the Earth piloting Shenzhen-5, China's first manned spaceship. The astronaut also showed a United Nations flag to highlight China's persistent stand for peaceful exploration and exploitation of space, according to sources with the Beijing Aerospace Command and Control Center.
